Undergraduate WISP

The Women in Science Program serves and develops students who identify as women, non-binary individuals, and male advocates within the College of Science throughout their undergraduate studies. From the first-year application process to graduation day, WISP exists to strengthen Science student experiences — not only in the lecture hall or lab but through mentoring and networking as well.

As a first-year student in the Women in Science Program (WISP) you would receive the following benefits:

  • You would live in the Women in Science Learning Community in Meredith South Hall (students living outside of the Learning Community but within University Residences can still participate in WISP).
  • You would have the opportunity to register for the Women In Science 1 credit class to study the opportunities available in STEM and the impact of being underrepresented by gender in the scientific disciplines.
  • You would have tutoring available to you 15 hours/week conveniently located in the University Residences Support Center within Shreve Hall.
  • You would be assigned an upper-class mentor in your same major.  You and your mentor will attend monthly mentoring programs that include dinner and speakers on science-based and life skills-based topics.

If you are interested in joining WISP, simply apply to be part of the College of Science, Women in Science Learning Community.

Undergraduate WISP additionally supports our cohort of 200 students via committees that are led by an experienced upper-class mentor with other mentors serving as committee members. We are excited for your active participation in the events and information offered by our dedicated groups. Please reach out with your ideas to:
