New dean of the College of Science named

Patrick J. Wolfe; professor of statistics and computer science at University College London, and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Established Career Fellow in the Mathematical Sciences; has been chosen as the next Frederick L. Hovde Dean of the College of Science. He joined Purdue on July 17.

Science faculty win Purdue's top research and teaching awards 

Mikhail Atallah and Jean A. Chmielewski won the 2017 Arden L. Bement Jr. Award and Herbert Newby McCoy Award, respectively, and Erica Carlson won the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in Memory of Charles B. Murphy.

Science faculty win national research awards, honors

Timothy Zwier has received the Humboldt Research Award, and six science faculty have received NSF CAREER Awards.

New head of Department of Chemistry

Christine Hrycyna, whose research has focused on biochemistry and applications in multidrug resistance in human cancer, is the new head of the Department of Chemistry.

Purdue continues to add promising Science alumni to its ranks. Science's Peter Boyd received the G.A. Ross Award and was the student responder at the College of Science spring commencement.

Statistics junior is first Purdue student to earn Truman Scholarship

The Harry S. Truman Foundation named Mikaela Meyer a 2017 Truman Scholar, in recognition of her commitment to public service and leadership potential.

Ross Biological Reserve breaks ground for a new building

A new building that will support ecological research, teaching and outreach is being built. It will house a graduate ecologist-in-residence and include an open-air pavilion for visiting groups.

College of Science Alumni Board Seeks New Members

The College of Science Alumni Board is seeking new members for a three-year term. Board members help to improve alumni communication efforts, support the College of Science advancement efforts by promoting Purdue Day of Giving via social media, help to plan an annual summer event, develop mentoring relationships with current Science students, and promote memberships in the Purdue Alumni Association.
