Implementing Scientific Probes in Your Science or Mathematics Class

Scientific Probes Workshop

Scientific probes offer an inexpensive way to include a variety of technology in your classroom for use with hands-on laboratory activities. Teachers will learn how to use Scientific Probes in the classroom with handheld devices, computers, or graphing calculators. Laboratory experiments will be available for teachers using light sensors, temperature probes, force plates, drop counters, CO2 gas sensors, motion detectors, radiation monitors, gas pressure sensors, and EKG sensors.

Objectives for the Scientific Probe Workshop

  • Become familiar with probe technology using handheld devices, computers, or graphing calculators
  • Learn how integrate scientific probes into a science or mathematics classroom
  • Participate in activities and lesson plans using scientific probes
  • Create and modify activities to include the scientific probes
  • Illustrate how Indiana Academic Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and Common Core State Standards for Mathematics fit with hands-on activities and technology
