Inclusive Resources for Military or Veteran Status

When looking for a career either during or at the end of your military service, you may need assistance with where to start. This often relies on the use of “transferable skills,” free education through the G.I. bill, or a combination of both. This guide will focus on those with current or prior military service and how being in this affinity group impacts the job search and what to consider in future employment.

Throughout pursuing higher education and preparing for internships or a career, you may consider the following:

  • How will my skills translate to a career?
  • What will culture in the workplace be like, and how do I adjust from military culture?
  • How do I explain my experience in the military to employers in a way that advances my career goals?

A further consideration for this affinity group is self-employment. Many people have taken this route of using the small business resources available to them in combination with their personal and professional skills. Creating a work environment that aligns with your own transferable skills you have gained in your time of service provides a unique opportunity for you to thrive in an original way. Among the resources listed below, you will find many that assist you in the pursuit of small business ownership.
