As an individual that falls within these identities, there is a wide variety of things to consider in your career search. These include:
- Finding an employer that accepts your identity.
- Finding an employer that has a history and present initiative in supporting your identity.
- Knowing how and when to disclose your identity if you choose to do so.
- Being aware of legal protections that exist for your identity, and what to do if your rights are being violated in the workplace.
Most of these can be answered with the same sentiment; it is up to you to decide what you are comfortable with. By reading the resources below, hopefully you determine what is best for you.

Drexel University Steinbright Career Development Center LGBTQIA+ Job Search Resources - Drexel University's Steinbright Career Development Center has prepared a series of presentations, available on their website, for a four-module series over topics on LGBTQIA+ identities in the workplace. These four modules focus on employment issues and trends, the job search, resumes and interviewing, and pointers for the transgender community. There are also many additional resources on this webpage for additional education.
Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network- The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) conducts extensive and original research to inform our evidence-based solutions for K-12 education. They advise on, advocate for, and research comprehensive policies designed to protect LGBTQ students as well as students of marginalized identities. They author developmentally appropriate resources for educators to use throughout their school community.

National Center for Trans Equality - Today, the National Center for Trans Equality (NCTE) is a team of hard-working staff members supported by a nationwide community of transgender people, allies, and advocates with an extensive record of winning lifesaving change for transgender people. We work to provide a powerful transgender advocacy presence in Washington, DC.
oSTEM – oSTEM was founded to address the lack of unity among the LGBTQ+ community within the STEM field prior to its existence. Now it serves as an opportunity for those who identify within the LGBTQ+ and STEM communities to come together.
Out 4 Undergrad - Each year, Out 4 Undergrad invites a diverse class of high-achieving LGBTQ+ students to their unique conferences, where students engage in learning about career possibilities aligned with their identities.
Out & Equal – A workplace advocacy group that partners with Fortune 1000 companies, government agencies and organizations to improve conditions of the LGBTQ+ community in the workplace. Their mission is further driven by the programs and resources they provide.
Out Professionals - Out Professionals is dedicated to advancing the careers of LGBTQ professionals by creating meaningful networking events and other career-building and life-enriching programming. We focus on creating in-person networking events with the support of virtual and online networking opportunities that help create connections and build professional relationships that advance careers and improve professionals’ lives.

PRIDE at Work - Pride At Work is a nonprofit organization that represents LGBTQ union members and their allies. We are an officially recognized constituency group of the AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor & Congress of Industrial Organizations) that organizes mutual support between the organized Labor Movement and the LGBTQ Community to further social and economic justice. We seek full equality for LGBTQ Workers in our workplaces and unions. We work towards creating a Labor Movement that cherishes diversity, encourages openness, and ensures safety & dignity. We aim to educate the LGBTQ Community about the benefits of a union contract for LGBTQ working people, and to build support and solidarity for the union movement in the LGBTQ community.
